Braemar MRT - Search Techniques

Team planning the next stage of the search. It's important that there is a process and that everyone knows what is expected of them - especially in poor conditions.

A lineout search in knee deep heather

It is amazing what you find in the woods when in the process of a fine search! Yes - today!

GPS are used to track which areas have been searched to ensure that nothing has been missed.

Braemar Mountain Rescue Team were out training today and were practising their line search techniques. It is another skill that has to be practised to ensure that a search is effective on the mountains in poor conditions. Organisation and discipline seemed to be extremely important. It proved yet again to me how dedicated these team members are ...giving up time at the weekend to ensure that when we need them, they will be there as a highly trained and effective team. Having said that I would never survive the embarrassment of putting their training to use! - so I'm going to be careful out there...really careful!
